This song is one of George’s countless, non-improvised compositions. This song is harmonically (sophisticated chord progressions) and lyrically brilliant. It is pure poetry. It is not for me to comment on the meaning of this song.

Originally George wrote this on the guitar and it had a cowboy vibe. Sometime in the early 2000’s George made a midi demo that featured a jazzy swung piano, meandering upright bass, and a Tuba. This was the outline I followed in my production. If left to George it probably would have been him and a guitar. This song is more sparse than the Wall of Sound devices I usually lean on, which serves to complement the sentiments of the tune.

The outro/tag of this song (“...she says her family is a wreck but they think she’s crazy but you think she’s perfect...”) was George improvising on what was supposed to be a different song, but it was a chord progression I had lifted from this song (Emaj, D# augmented, C#mi), so it seemed to fit well. There are other ways to shower than by standing upright!
